Day One
Fly into Panama City, Panama where you will be and taken to your waiting private van. You’ll spend your week in the cosmopolitan capital of Panama, which has earned the nickname “Miami of Central America”. Stay at the beautiful Veneto Hotel, located in the heart of Panama City and blocks away from some of the best nightlife and shopping around. The hotel features a spa, pool, gym, sushi & steak restaurants, and one of the best casinos in the city.

Day Two
Let’s go fishing! You’ll be picked up early in the morning at your hotel for a full day of fishing on Lake Gatun and the Panama Canal. Built by the United States after a failed attempt by the French, the Panama Canal was constructed between 1904-1914 by damning up the Chagres River. This formed Lake Gatun, which at 163 sq miles is one of the largest man-made lakes in the world. With a mix of islands, inlets, river mouths, and submerged rain forest there is no shortage of habitat for peacock bass here. Most peacock bass, known as ‘sargento’ locally, weigh between 2-3 pounds but real trophies can be had at 7-10 lbs.
-
Day Three
Let’s go fishing! Spend another day on the lake with your guide as you use live bait, poppers, crank baits, and even fly fish for these hungry peacock bass. Your boat will be a Hurricane Fundeck, the perfect boat for this kind of fishing as it offers comfortable seating, protection from the sun and shade when needed, and two swivel fishing chairs and a casting platform on the bow.
-
Day Four
Take a break from the lake and use this day to see the other main attraction in Panama City – the Panama Canal itself! Take a very interesting and education tour of the Miraflores Locks where you will learn how one of the world’s greatest engineering feats remains Panama’s main source of income a full century later. Combine this with a tour of Panama Viejo, the Spanish ruins of the first settlements here nearly 500 years ago.
-
Day Five
Let’s go fishing! By now you’ve likely caught more than your share of peacock bass on Lake Gatun so head up the Chagres River for different scenery or try to complete the Panama Canal Grand Slam by catching snook and tarpon which call the canal home.
-
Day Six
You will be picked up and taken back to the PTY Airport for your international flight home.
