Available Species

Central America Fishing is proud to be the premier outfitter for luxury, customized fishing vacations to Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua, Belize and Guatemala – which means we have a lot of places to fish! We offer over 250 different options throughout our five countries, and with that comes an endless amount of different fishing venues and species to enjoy. Although we only target a small percentage of the hundreds of available species in Central America, the diversity of the marine life here with two oceans is unmatched almost anywhere in the world. Offshore fishing offers three types of marlin (blue, black, striped), we can catch both Pacific and Atlantic sailfish, yellow-fin tuna, dorado, and the elusive wahoo. Inshore fishing is where we find the most variety as we can catch up to 30 species in a week including trophies like roosterfish and cubera snapper. The freshwater fishing offers exotic local species like machaca, tropical gar, and both peacock and rainbow bass.

In Costa Rica and Panama we fish on the Caribbean for tarpon and snook, offshore and inshore on the Pacific, and our various lakes and jungle rivers for local exotic species. In Guatemala we get to experience one of the world’s very best sailfish bites, in addition to other pelagics like marlin, tuna, and dorado. Belize offers offshore fishing on the Caribbean as well, but you’ll find the most marine life along the Mesoamerican Reef, the second longest barrier reef in the world. It’s true calling card is the incredible shallow saltwater flats fishing for bonefish, permit and tarpon.  We have the ability to catch up to 30 different species of fish in a single week here, below is a small sampling of the most popular available species in Central America.
