Day One
Fly into San Jose, Costa Rica where we will meet you and take you to your waiting private van. Enjoy the capital city of San Jose on your first night at the beautiful Grano de Oro. Home to arguably the best restaurant in the entire city, this converted Victorian Mansion offers guests authenticity and luxury at the same time.

Day Two
We will pick you up early in the morning for a short 30 minute flight out to the northeast corner of Costa Rica. Your destination is the small town of Tortuguero, which is only accessible by boat or plane as it sits amidst the vast Barra de Colorado nature preserve. Tortuguero gained fame for being one of the world’s most important turtle nesting sites, but now savvy anglers know it for being a hot bed of giant tarpon and snook. Once you arrive at your hotel you’ll have time to check-in and drop off your bags, then when you are ready it’s time to head out fishing! Our top local guide, who boasts nearly 25 years of experience fishing the area, will be waiting for you to take you out fishing for tarpon that typically range in the 100-150 lb range.

Day Three
Let’s go fishing! Head out for another day of world class tarpon fishing. Fishing in the vast Barra de Colorado Reserve also gives you the option to fish the river mouths for snook and snapper or the backwater lagoons for rainbow bass, gar, or a tarpon might surprise you in there too!

Day Four
Today you’ll take two short flights to get you from the northeast Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica over to the central Pacific Coast. Once back in San Jose you will have another short 30 minute flight down to Quepos and the popular Manuel Antonio National Park. Referred to as the “Sport Fishing Capital of Costa Rica”, Quepos is home to the brand new Marina Pez Vela and offers incredible off-shore and in-shore fishing opportunities. This day is a free day used to fly you across the country as well as give you a day off from fishing. Enjoy your new accommodations at the boutique The Falls Resort.

Day Five
Let’s go fishing! Head off-shore to experience the billfishing that has made Costa Rica so popular in recent years. Fish for marlin, sailfish, and dorado as well as the occasional wahoo.

Day Six
In-shore fishing today! In-shore fishing in Costa Rica is as prolific as the off-shore fishing and it offers more variety of species. Fish for a half day or full day with arguably the best in-shore guide in the country as he puts you snapper, grouper, jacks, mackerel, snook, and the famous roosterfish.

Day Seven
Let’s go fishing! Head off-shore one more time to land that trophy marlin or sailfish that is missing from your week. If you see a pod of spinner dolphins keep an eye out for schooling yellow-fin tuna and get the poppers & plugs ready!

Day Eight
We will pick you up and take you to the local airstrip for your short 25 minute flight back to the SJO International Airport and your flight home.
