Package Details

  1. Day One

Fly into the Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (BZE) where after passing through Immigrations and Customs you’ll be met by a representative of one of Belize’s premier fishing lodges, Turneffe Flats. You’ll be taken in a shuttle to Belize City where you will board their 50’ covered dive boat and make your way out to the Turneffe Atoll. Located twenty miles off the coast, this is the largest of the four atolls in the western hemisphere as the 450 sq mile marine reserve contains vibrant coral reefs, shallow saltwater flats, vast mangrove systems, and several large lagoons.

Despite it’s remote location on an atoll, Tfalts offers anglers a surprising amount of luxury and amenities. Between eight beachfront cabanas and three villas, the lodge offers 16 rooms total which all offer air conditioning, ceiling fans, private bathroom with hot water showers, safes and electrical outlets for charging cameras and phones. The main lodge is where you’ll find the bar, fly shop, and where happy hours and family-style meals are enjoyed. On site they also have a small gym, spa, dive shop, and a large deck complete with infinity edge pool. Enjoy a welcome drink, a delicious dinner, and settle into one of Belize’s best fishing lodges.

  2. Day Two

Fishing day! This morning after breakfast you’ll be given a briefing from the lodge manager about the Turneffe Atoll, the fishery, which flies or lures to use where, and will be assigned your personal fishing guide for the week. Once your guide looks over your tackle he’ll make suggestions on what you should pick up from the fly shop and then you’ll head out for your first day of tarpon fishing. The fleet of 16’ Dolphin Superskiffs at Tflats are the perfect fishing boat as they come with comfortable padded seating for two anglers, rod holders for up to six rods, and a large casting platform with lean bar. Explore endless mangroves and lagoons as you search for feeding tarpon.

  3. Day Three

Fishing day! Enjoy another full day of tarpon fishing at Tflats. In addition to their population of resident tarpon, the Turneffe Atoll is one of the best locations to intercept the much larger, migratory tarpon. Each year between April and September the migratory silver kings roll through Belize and an already good tarpon fishery becomes that much better. Find them cruising the flats for sardines or patrolling a shallow lagoon. After a long day of fishing come back and enjoy a hot shower then head over to the main lodge for hors d’oeuvres and some drinks before dinner.

  4. Day Four

Fishing day! Today is your last day of tarpon fishing at the Turneffe Atoll so if you haven’t been able to land your tarpon yet the pressure is on! Many of the same places you’ll be looking for tarpon will hold snook and snapper, so keep your eyes peeled as there are plenty of fighters that will bend your rod at Tflats.

  5. Day Five

After breakfast you’ll board the Tflats boat at 7:30 AM as you head back to Belize City on the mainland. You’ll be shuttled back to the airport and then from here we’ll fly you down to our favorite beach town located in southern Belize, Placencia. The Placencia Peninsula is 16 kilometers long and is home to numerous luxury hotels and condo developments, but at the very end you’ll still find the original town which largely remains a quiet fishing village with an authentic Belizean feel. Here you’ll stay at the newly remodeled Caribbean Beach Cabanas, the nicest luxury hotel located right in the town itself. Featuring just 16 private suites and villas, each is equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fans, flat screen TVs, wifi, mini fridge or full kitchen, coffee maker, and private terrace with beach & ocean views. In addition to luxurious beach accommodations and a new pool complete with swim-up bar, Caribbean Beach Cabanas has an incredible location as you are on the famous ‘Placencia Sidewalk’ so you are easy walking distance to restaurants, bars, and local artisan shops.

  6. Day Six

Fishing day! Today you’ll head out to the cayes with one of our legendary local guides for another day of tarpon fishing. Fishing from Placencia you’ll be inside the Mesoamerican Reef as opposed to offshore at the Turneffe Atoll, so here you’ll fish waters that are dotted with hundreds of white sand cayes, saltwater flats, and lagoons and river mouths on the mainland. Like we said, wherever these tarpon are we will find them and fish for them! Our local guides all have 30 years of guiding these waters and will run a 23’ skiff that features six rod holders, padded seating, and of course a large casting platform.

  7. Day Seven

Fishing day! If you weren’t able to find the tarpon out at the cayes yesterday spend today fishing along the coastline as southern Belize offers various lagoons and river mouths that often hold tarpon in search of mullet and sardines. Monkey River, located about 30 minutes south, is often home to rolling tarpon and even snook. After another full day of fishing walk into town and enjoy one of the many local restaurants serving delicious Belizean cuisine like rice & beans, fresh lobster and conch (in season), jerk chicken or fish, and more. Just ask us for a list of our favorites!

  8. Day Eight

Fishing day! Today is your last day of tarpon fishing in Belize so make it count! Depending on the time of year the tarpon can be found out on the flats chasing sardines or closer to the river mouths and lagoons of the mainland. Trust our expert local guides to find them, then steady your nerves and don’t forget to bow to the king once you hook one!

  9. Day Nine

Enjoy a short 45 minute flight back to the BZE Airport for your flight home.
