Enjoy a week of fly fishing in one of the most exotic settings imaginable – floating down a river in the middle of the Costa Rican jungle. Our professional fly guide will take you down the Savegre River and point out the best spots for you to cast your fly. We fondly refer to this as the “float of 1,000 casts”, so you’ll have plenty of chances to catch up to six different species of fish in these fresh water rivers & mangroves.

Package Details

Day One

Fly into San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO) we will meet you and take you to your waiting private van. Your bilingual driver will take you straight to one of the most beautiful beaches in the entire country, Manuel Antonio. With some of the best hotels, restaurants, and nightlife this national park & beach is one of the most popular destinations in Costa Rica. You’ll stay at the boutique The Falls Resort, which is one of the best rated hotels and best value in the country. Enjoy their top rated restaurant, pool, bar, and lush gardens with waterfalls all while being in the middle of all the action.
Day Two

Take this day to sleep late and explore your new surroundings! Visit the Manuel Antonio National Park, rated one of the top 12 national parks in the world by Forbes, or check out the quaint little town of Quepos for local shopping, bars and restaurants.
Day Three

Let’s go fishing! You’ll be picked up early in the morning by your guide and driven 30 minutes south to the Savegre River. Your guide, who was pro fly fishing guide in Colorado before moving to Costa Rica, will provide all the fly fishing tackle and flies you will need for the trip. Should you wish to bring your own gear, we recommend a 5 wt rod with floating line and a 10-12 lb tippet. You’ll be in his customized two man raft with a casting platform in the front and a swivel chair in the back as he sits in the middle to guide you down the river. As you float down the river you’ll cast towards the shoreline and in calm water in hopes of hooking the always hungry machaca or a variety of other species like snook, grunts, mojarra, and sometimes even snapper.
Day Four

Use this day to see more of what makes Costa Rica famous. Visit the Manuel Antonio National Park where you can see incredible wildlife ranging from monkeys to sloths, not to mention some of the best beaches in the entire country.
Day Five

Let’s go fishing! Today is another day of fly fishing on the river.
Day Six

Today will be a change of pace as you’ll the exhilarating canopy zip-line tour. Featuring a butterfly garden and serpentarium, this zip-line boasts 13 cables and a Tarzan swing for those who are brave enough!
Day Seven

Let’s go fishing! Enjoy another float trip down the river, or if you want to try something new we can fish in the mangroves to the river mouth on our new skiff.
Day Eight

You’ll be taken to the Quepos Airstrip for your 25 minute domestic flight back to San Jose – time to fly home!
