The accommodations at Crocodile Bay have gone through some changes over the past quarter century. What started out as a rustic fishing lodge, Crocodile Bay morphed into a boutique fishing resort with air-conditioned accommodations and added amenities in the early 2000s. In May 2022 the lodge underwent one more major change, becoming just the second Hilton Curio property in Costa Rica. Today the Botanika Resort at Crocodile Bay offers luxurious accommodations that rival any luxury fishing lodge in Central America. Guests can choose between Standard Rooms, or for more space and common area Botanika also offers 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, and 3-bedroom suites. Each room features a king or two queen size beds, along with a Hilton pillow selection. Enjoy handcrafted local Costa Rican wood furniture, spacious Kohler bathrooms, flat screen TVs, and wifi. The larger suites also offer a fully furnished kitchen and a living room with a pull-out sofa.

After 25 yrs, Crocodile Bay is still one of Costa Rica’s most popular fishing destinations. A walk down their private 800 ft dock takes you to their fleet of boats, which is one of the largest private sport fishing fleets in Central and South America.  The original 25′ Boston Whaler Outrage for small groups as well as 33′ and 35′ Strike boats for larger parties are the mainstays. Both boats are capable of fishing inshore for roosterfish and snapper as well as fishing offshore to target marlin, sailfish, mahi and yellowfin tuna thanks to calm seas and short run times. In 2025 they added a brand new 36′ Front Runner and a 39′ Front Runner to the fleet, giving guests the option to upgrade to larger, faster boats. These boats are also capable of making day trips out to the sea mounts.  In 2026 they added a new 35′ Cabo, which will be the first boat at the lodge with an air-conditioned cabin.

All boats are outfitted with 50 and 30 Penn International reels as well as 20- and 30-pound outfits in both conventional and spinning reels for inshore and light tackle fishing. For the fly anglers out there, Crocodile Bay offers Temple Fork rods & reels. With the newer additions of kayak fishing and shore fishing, your fishing vacation at Crocodile Bay can be customized to fish however you want, as many days as you want, and for any species you wish to target.

The Botanika Resort offers an impressive array of amenities and day tours for eco-adventurers, spouses and families, and anglers on non-fishing days. In addition to the incredible sport fishing, countless eco and adventure tours are available such as canopy zip-line, horseback riding, snorkeling, kayaking, guided hikes in the rainforest, birdwatching tours, and a chocolate farm. On-site they offer an array of amenities like a new, lagoon-style pool, a spa, and e-bikes. You can choose between three restaurants on-site, or venture into the nearby town of Puerto Jimenez to try local cuisine.
