Sport Fishing  

The sport fishing in Manuel Antonio is some of the best in the world.  Long known as the ‘sport fishing capital of Costa Rica,’ Manuel Antonio is home to some of the best boats in the country as well as the brand new Marina Pez Vela.  Head just 20-30 miles offshore to enjoy world class sport fishing for black and blue marlin, sailfish, dorado, yellow-fin tuna, and wahoo.  A day with double digit sailfish releases is a common occurrence in the peak season from December through April.

The fishing here is so good that Manuel Antonio hosts it’s own fishing tournament each February, the Quepos Cup, as well as one of the largest sport fishing tournaments in the world for the past three years – the Offshore World Championship.  In April 2014, 64 of the best teams in the world released an incredible 2,711 billfish in the 4 day tournament.  The sport fishing here is so good they even host a fly fishing tournament for billfish for the past 15 years!
