Hannibal Bank Fishing Panama

The Hannibal Bank in Panama is one of the most widely recognized fishing hot spots around the world. Located 50 miles off the coast of the Chiriqui Region in western Panama, this natural underwater formation was found in 1914 by the USS Hannibal when doing survey work for the Panama Canal. At the Hannibal Bank the ocean floor rises from several thousand feet to just over a hundred feet deep which creates an upwelling of currents and structure for baitfish which in turn attracts giant marlin, sailfish, and schools of large yellow-fin tuna throughout the year.
